In the market for a touchscreen smartwatch with a familiar name? The new Armani Exchange Connected fits the bill.
This is the fashion brand’s first ever touchscreen smartwatch. It runs Wear OS and has a fully-round, 1.19-inch AMOLED display. It features a powerful microphone for responsive Google Assistant functionality and heart-rate tracking. GPS is absent, but then again this is a fashion smartwatch. If you want GPS, check out the Galaxy Watch.
Elsewhere, you get what you’d probably expect. The Armani Exchange Connected has a premium build and feels weighty on the wrist. It’s unisex, but its chunkiness is going to sway more men than women. The case is made from stainless steel.
At 46mm, it’s also on the large side. Something we’re not so keen on is the case to display ratio. The 1.19-inch AMOLED display looks somewhat out of place on such a chunky watch, and the large side buttons exasperate the issue.
Speaking of those hardware buttons, they’re not just for show. You can navigate directly to certain features of Wear OS at the press of a button, rather than by using the screen. They aren’t as nice to use as the Galaxy Watch’s rotating bezel, but they’ll do for keeping greasy fingers off the shiny screen. And shiny it most certainly is.
Like it? It comes in a few colour variations. These include gold-tone, black, silver and coal stainless-steel. There’s no proprietary shenanigans with the bracelet either, so feel free to swap out the metal bracelet for your own strap. You’ll be able to buy replacement straps on the Armani Exchange site, but any strap will do if it’s the right size.
Pricing and availability
Pricing starts from $295 which is the going rate for a fashion smartwatch. It’s available to order now from the Armani Exchange website.
