Casio, a Japanese watchmaker, is expected to step into the smartwatch industry with the introduction of its first Android Wear smartwatch in March 2016. It’s been four decades since the company introduced its first digital wristwatch and experts believe that it’s high time Casio puts a new type of innovation in its wristwatch product line and introduce an Android Wear smartwatch.
The company has already developed wristwatches with heart-rate monitors, schedule managers, and various communication tools, but is yet to enter the smartwatch fray. Casio’s COO Kazuhiro Kashio said that the company takes pride in its ability to add value to the wristwatch industry and will soon introduce its first smartwatch to attract all those people who actively indulge in sports and other fitness activities.
Details about the Upcoming Smartwatch
The first smartwatch by Casio is set to offer excellent competition to other smartwatch makers. Casio’s COO told us that the smartwatch will have features identical to its rivals but it will set new levels of watch perfection and will have an affordable price tag. Mr. Kashio, Casio’s COO, told us that it will be priced similar to the Apple Watch’s price range but did not specify an exact price. Our sources say that it will be priced around $400, potentially higher than some other smartwatches available on the market today, except the Apple Watch.
The company did not provide detailed information about the specific features of the new product, but our sources say that the new product is designed to be robust and will not break easily. Much like other smartwatches available in the market today, Casio’s smartwatch will have an attractive yet simple, straight to the point design. The much-anticipated smartwatch from a world renowned digital watchmaker will hit the Japanese and US market in the first quarter of 2016. Its target audience will be fitness-conscious men who are actively involved in sports and other outdoor activities.
