The Swiss luxury watchmaker, Tag Heuer, will enter the smartwatch industry with its first Android Wear smartwatch in November, 2015. The Android Wear smartwatch was announced by the company in March and will go on sale at a price of $1,400 later this year.
The first luxury smartwatch by Tag Heuer is set to offer a great competition to luxury smartwatch maker, Apple, in terms of its battery life. It is reported that the Tag Heuer smartwatch will have a battery life of 40 hours, which is more than double compared to the 18-hours battery life of the latest Apple Watch.
Alliance of Google, Intel, and Tag Heuer
Tag Heuer announced its alliance with Intel Corporation and Google Inc. last month. The three companies will work together to develop the first Android Wear smartwatch from the Swiss company. However, the TAG Smartwatch may not carry the Swiss made label as the microchip used in the smartwatch will not be manufactured in Switzerland.
Tag Heuer aims to develop an Android Wear smartwatch that will be a perfect combination of luxury, functionality, innovation, design, and creativity. The merger of the Silicon Valley and Swiss watch-making is sure to bring something exceptional and exciting to smartwatch consumers.
Not a great deal is known about the software and hardware of the upcoming luxury smartwatch just yet. The reports are that Google will take care of the software aspects of the smartwatch, which will be upgradable as well.
Price Tag of the Luxury Watch
The luxurious smartwatch will cost around $1400, which is quite acceptable in comparison to the limited edition Gold Apple Watch that costs around $12,000. However, there are other Apple watch models that are cheaper, such as the sport model, with cost ranging from $350 to $1,099.
