If you’re a fan of the Huawei Watch GT but want something smaller and more affordable, the Honor Watch Magic is the smartwatch you want.
The Watch Magic is a Watch GT is miniature form. The best part is it has all the fantastic features offered by the larger Huawei. It doesn’t compromise on spec.
For those of you who don’t know, Huawei is Honor’s parent company but Honor is an entirely separate brand in its own right. The two do share design notes though, which is why Honor’s Watch Magic looks so much like Huawei’s Watch GT.
The differences between the two devices are subtle but obvious on the wrist. The Honor Watch Magic has a smaller 42mm case, the Huawei Watch GT has a 46.5mm case. The Honor Watch Magic has a 1.2-inch 390 x 390 resolution AMOLED display with 326 ppi, the Huawei Watch GT has a larger 1.39-inch 454 x 454 resolution AMOLED display with 326 ppi.
Eagle-eyed readers will notice the ppi (pixels per inch) on the displays are the same, and that’s not a typo. Huawei and Honor see the display as the most important part of a smartwatch so they’ve gone all out to produce a great one.
What’s also great is the feature set. The Honor Watch Magic has a 5ATM water resistance rating (which makes it good for showering and bathing), heart-rate tracking, advanced positioning through GPS, GLONASS and Galileo and NFC for Huawei Pay. Galileo is a sweet feature because its accuracy is second to none.
So, are there any compromises with Honor’s Watch Magic compared to Huawei’s Watch GT? The only compromise is the body’s made from stainless steel and plastic, whereas the more expensive Huawei is made from stainless steel throughout with a ceramic bezel. There’s no ceramic bezel on the Honor device.
