The Kronaby Smartwatch has a TWO-YEAR Battery Life
The Apple Watch Series 2 has a battery life rated for a day. The Withings Activité has a battery life rated for 8 months. That’s a huge difference in battery life. The reason? The Withings Activité is a hybrid smartwatch, which means it has a traditional analogue watch face with fitness tracking sensors built in, as opposed to a touchscreen display with its own operating system, like the Apple Watch Series 2 has.
There are quite a few hybrid smartwatches out right now to choose from. But a new watch has come into our notice with something new: A battery life that’s rated for 2-years, which is some 12 months better than any other hybrid smartwatch on the market now. That smartwatch is called the Kronaby. The Kronaby is made by Swedish company Anima, who are a contemporary watch maker. They are a new start-up so this is their first model, and it is available in four styles: Apex (stainless steel with a black dial), Sekel (polished stainless steel with a silver/white dial), Nord (stainless steel with a minimalist white dial) and Carat (rose gold stainless steel with a brushed blue dial).
Each of those models is also available with a variety of bands, and the Carat is available with a silver/white dial as well as that blue one. The Carat model is also available in gold. Overall, each smartwatch looks great and the build quality looks to be up there with the best. There’s 24 variants of the Kronaby available in total.
In our opinion, hybrid smartwatches offer the best of both worlds. One of the biggest gripes people have with ‘full-fat’ smartwatches like the Apple Watch is that they must charge their device daily to use it. Without charging, smartwatches like the Apple Watch turn into a useless (although fashionable) wristband. Hybrid smartwatches meanwhile tick away without the need for any charging whatsoever, and they still track activity. The Kronaby takes battery life to a whole new level though, with a 2-year battery life. That’s better than any other hybrid smartwatch on the market, which is quite a feat.
The Kronaby isn’t all show though. It has all the usual sensors built into it, so it can track your steps and sleep and it can send push notifications from your smartphone to your wrist. It also lets you control your smartphone’s music and camera from your wrist, thanks to usefully chunky physical buttons located on the side of the case. You can also reject calls from your wrist and set a silent alarm, which vibrates to gently wake you up.
Interested? The Kronaby is available for pre-order right now inside the EU. It has a price tag of around £315-£545 in GBP, or 325 EUR to 565 EUR. Availability in the United States has not been confirmed, although importing one should be perfectly possible.
