Indian wearable-tech and covert GPS tracker manufacturer Leaf Wearables has launched its first smartwatch for kids this month. It’s called the SAFER Kids Smart Watch, and it keeps kids connected to their parents with GPS tracking and call functionality.
The SAFER Kids Smart Watch is simple to setup and thoughtfully designed. It is made from silicone and plastic and weighs just 41g. There’s three designs to choose from in blue, yellow and pink. The blue and yellow watches have a panda face, while the pink watch has a cat face with a pink hair bow. Those faces are interchangeable as well.
What’s even more impressive than the design though is the feature list. There’s no subscription charges at all, and with the SAFER Kids Smart Watch, you can track your kid in real-time on your smartphone or online. The wearer can also send SOS alerts to up to seven contacts, and it is even possible for the wearer to make calls to pre-programmed contacts thanks to an in-built microphone and speaker.
In addition to that, the SAFER Kids Smart Watch also tracks the wearer’s activity, and the parent can set up safe zones within the smartphone app. With a safe zone set up, the parent is alerted if their child strays beyond it in real-time on their smartphone.
In terms of general performance, the SAFER Kids Smart Watch has an in-built lithium-ion battery which offers up to 3 days of battery life. It recharges in around two hours. There’s an OLED screen built into the watch that displays the time, and there’s physical buttons on the side that make using the watch easy. For example, to send an emergency alert to pre-programmed contacts, the wearer just long presses the red button on the side of the watch.
There’s no word on whether the SAFER Kids Smart Watch is waterproof, however with a silicone band, we expect it’ll be splash resistant at least. The silicone itself is food-grade too, so there’s no need to worry about it harming your child or the environment.
Pricing and Availability
The SAFER Kids Smart Watch is available online from the official web page here. It costs Rs. 5,000.00, which equates to around $78.00. Overall, that’s a small price to pay for such a feature-packed tracking device, so we say it’s worth a go.
