The world’s most expensive smartwatch costs an eye-watering $180,000
Only the rich (and gaudy) need apply here.
The world’s most expensive smartwatch costs $180,000, and it’s absolutely, insanely extravagant. What is it? It’s a solid white gold and diamond encrusted Tag Heuer Connected Modular 45, aptly named the Tag Heuer Connected Modular 45 Full Diamond.
What you get for your money is the same module from the standard Tag Heuer Connected Modular 45 (for which the RRP starts from around $1,555) but the watch case and bracelet are made from 18k white gold with 589 VVS baguette size diamonds.
The watch retains the removable watch module, so it can be replaced if damaged. The real value is found in the precious metal and stones the module is surrounded by. The lugs that connect the strap to the case have 16 diamonds; the strap has 495 diamonds and the bezel has 78 diamonds. All stones are rated VVS1, or very-very slightly included, which is the third highest grade behind FL (flawless) and IF (internally flawless).
As you might expect, the Tag Heuer Connected Modular 45 Full Diamond is Swiss Made and assembled by hand by Tag’s experts. All the diamonds are fully certified, and each model comes with its own certificate certifying the diamonds. The watch will also come in its own bespoke presentation box, to reflect the special nature of the purchase.
With a price tag of $180,000, this is the most expensive smartwatch in the world. It costs more than the Patek Philippe Nautilus, and more than twice as much as the super-blingy Rolex Pearlmaster 39. If we compare it to other smartwatches, the now discontinued 18k gold Apple Watch Edition only cost $17,000. That means you could buy 10 solid gold Apple Watch Edition’s for the price of the Tag - with change to spare.
