Sony SmartWatch 3 is Sony's first smartwatch that has Android Wear integrated. Sony has introduced this smartwatch slightly later on compared to its rivals but it is worth the wait as the Sony SmartWatch 3 is currently at the time of writing the only android wear watch with built-in GPS, making it a good choice for athletes and runners interested in tracking their distance and speed.
Design and Display
The Sony SmartWatch 3 is styled more like a fitness device with its square shape and rubber straps, but still keeps its watch characteristics. The wrist strap is available in three colors: black, yellow, and steel. The rubber strap is comfortable to wear and the watch unit weighs around 45g.
Sony SmartWatch 3 has a 1.6 inch transflective TFT display with 320 X 320 pixels resolution. The actual watch unit is detachable from the wrist strap, which allows you to change the wrist straps that are available in various colors as optional accessories. The watch is totally waterproof, which means that you do not have to take it off when you are washing dishes or taking a shower.
The watch is powered by 512MB of RAM and 1.2GHz quad-core ARM Cortex A7 with 4GB of storage capacity. The Sony SmartWatch 3 has an integrated GPS that allows the watch to track location without having to be connected to an android phone. The watch also has an ambient light sensor, a compass, an accelerometer, a microphone, and a gyroscope.
The Sony SmartWatch 3 has a 420-mA battery, which cannot be compared to any other android wear watch in terms of its performance. Charging time is less than one hour, and the battery lasts for 2 days on typical usage. The watch has a built-in USB port; therefore, you do not have to carry a dedicated charging cable with you all the time.
