The Tag Heuer Connected has proven to be very popular with folk who hit the green. So much so, the Swiss brand’s announced the Tag Heuer Connected Modular 45 Golf Edition, an updated version of the standard device.
The Connected Modular 45 Golf Edition has a brand-new golfing app that is preloaded with 39,000 international golf courses. Using GPS to track your location, it notifies you when you’re close to a golf course and automatically recognizes which course you are on so you can get teed up without faffing about. It shows you a map of the course you’re on, recommends an iron, and lets you see the distance to greens and hazards, measure shot distance, tee off and save scores. Your swing is also measured, giving you unique insight into the day you just whacked for 300 yards.
However, the app isn’t exclusive to the Golf Edition. It’s available for download on the standard Tag Heuer Connected Modular 45. To want in on the Golf Edition, then, you’ll need to be sold on the new styling.
The Golf Edition has a black PVD case which is PVD coated all the way around, including the lugs and comes on a black and white rubber strap. The bezel is also unique with the numbers 1-18 around it to indicate an 18-hole round of golf. A sweet touch, even if the bezel doesn’t have a function (the hole you’re on is shown on the screen, which also shows your score at the same time). It’s all very neat.
Aside from the new look, the Connected Modular 45 Golf Edition is the same smartwatch as the standard one underneath. That means you get a 1.39” AMOLED screen with a 400 x 400 resolution, Intel Atom processor, GPS, and NFC. There’s no heart-rate tracker which is one of its downsides. No-Tag Heuer Connected has heart-rate tracking, a glaring omission when the competition has it. You might not care though.
Pricing and availability
The Tag Heuer Connected 45 Golf Edition is on sale now from Tag stockists. It’s priced at $1,850 and is only available in 45mm size. It’s more expensive than the standard Connected 45 which retails for $1,550.
